As part of its Physician Recruitment program, Halton Region hosted the annual Docs on Ice tournament at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex.   Docs on Ice is a provincial  organization comprised exclusively of hockey playing Doctors who descend on different locality every year to raise charity funds.   Much of  fundraising is done on a personal basis.   They are often supported by media personnel and NHL hockey players.

With the help of local volunteers, the tournament raises funds through a combination of registration fees, sponsorship, donations and special events.

Funds raised through Docs on Ice Oakville 2011 will support the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton/Halton and will be used to expand the Alzheimer Society Oakville resource centre. This year over $150,000.00 was raised for Alzheimers due to efforts of Docs on Ice.
